Etymology

• Huyan means "call, shout, breathe out, exhale, cry out, vocative" (呼) (hu) and "delay, extend, prolong, postpone, invite" (延) (yan).
• Lanruo means "orchid, cymbidium, orchis" (兰) (lan) and "as, like, seem" (若) (ruo).
  • Cymbidium is a tropical orchid with long, narrow leaves and arching stems bearing several flowers, growing chiefly as an epiphyte from Asia to Australasia and widely cultivated for boutonnières.
  • Orchis is an orchid of (or formerly of) a genus native to north temperate regions, characterized by a tuberous root and an erect fleshy stem bearing a spike of typically purple or pinkish flowers.
